Do I need a base layer under DISTON pants or tops?
No. DISTON garments are ultra-smooth and designed to be worn directly on the skin. In extreme cold, some athletes choose to add a thin base layer.
Are DISTON pants stretchy?
Yes. DISTON fabrics offer 4-way stretch for maximum comfort and unrestricted mobility.
Can I wear the pants inside my ski boots?
Yes. This is personal preference and does not affect protection.
Protection and Certification
Are DISTON garments FIS certified?
Yes. All DISTON cut-resistant garments are certified with a minimum of 3 FIS Stars, with 4 and 5 Star models available.
Is cut-resistant apparel mandatory in ski racing?
Yes. It is mandatory for World Cup, Continental Cups, and official FIS competitions. National federations may apply additional rules for all age categories.
Does DISTON protect the upper body?
Yes. DISTON offers pants, tops, and neck guards for full-body cut protection.
Does DISTON protect against impact?
No. DISTON is not designed to protect ski racers from impacts. DISTON protects against lacerations from sharp ski edges and abrasion when falling on icy slopes.

Are DISTON garments certified as PPE?
Yes. DISTON garments are certified as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Category II under EU Regulation 2016/425.
What is PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)?
Equipment or clothing designed to protect a person from injury, hazards, or health risks.
Is PPE certification mandatory for cut-resistant ski garments in the EU?
Yes. Under EU law, garments marketed as protection against mechanical risks (such as ski-edge lacerations) must be PPE certified.
How are DISTON garments labelled?
All DISTON products are officially labelled PPE Category II. The label is located inside the garment.

Sizing and Length
How do I choose my size?
Check the DISTON size chart. For personalized advice, share your gender, height, weight, and age and we will help you choose the right size.
What is the difference between Standard (S) and Long (L) length?
- S: Standard length
- L: Long length (for taller athletes)
How does DISTON sizing work?
Example: M-L means Medium size, Long length.
Are men’s and women’s fits different?
Yes. Women’s garments have a slightly different anatomical cut and are approximately half a size smaller than men’s.
Can men wear women’s pants and vice versa?
Yes. Some athletes choose the opposite fit if it feels better. This is common when you are between two sizes.
Compression Technology
Are DISTON pants compression pants?
Yes. DISTON 5 FIS Star pants are cut-resistant compression pants.
What are the benefits of compression?

Care and Maintenance
Can I wash DISTON garments?
Yes. Wash as often as needed, following the care label.
Washing guidelines:
- Delicate wash or hand wash
- Max 30°C
- Mild detergent
- Hang dry
- Low-temperature ironing if required
Emergency and Safety
How can DISTON pants be cut in a medical emergency?
Standard scissors are sufficient. Cut vertically close to the injured area to quickly access it.

Yes.

Guarantee
What guarantee does DISTON provide?
DISTON provides a 2-year guarantee against manufacturing defects (aligned with EU law).
This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, impacts, cuts or accident damage, or loss of compression or fibres due to incorrect washing.
